About Camryn

My name is Camryn Ramirez. I am a human and I am an artist. In my artwork I attempt to capture the vast, yet, intricate human experience: a full spectrum within itself. 

My mission is to spend my entire life visually communicating with what it means to be human and how it feels to be alive. Through my projects, I will connect people in their similarities and highlight the differences in how it feels to participate as a person in the modern world.

What is the human experience?

Our stories are vivid and our emotions are valid. I am enthralled with the parallels that all living things share with one another. For example, isn’t it exciting to see an animal display love like we do?! I feel like when we look a little bit longer at the world around us- we can find very specific shared feelings, memories and experiences amongst just us humans. By focusing on what exactly the human experience is- I hope, ultimately, that I can increase human connection. A resource that I feel is depleting, and its loss sadly damages our communities.

How did you get here?

My childhood was filled with time spent drawing humans- specifically growing families and funny houses in a storybook style. This transitioned into many artworks revolving around first love and my notice to the growing political divide in high school. When I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology, my technique in painting the human form elevated and my love for sculpture began; and life steadily streamed in higher peaks and lower troughs. Unequivocally, I have to recognize how the pandemic was its own significant chapter of life, where everything got to fall apart and be put back together. During this time I got to sit with what was actually important in life here on earth, and my purpose became clear. And now, I am circling around an explosion of artwork with imagery of humans front-and-center as closely connected beings. Our human experience must be shared, discussed and debated. I am passionate and serious about tying knots between people in their mental and physical connections.
